Hi, we have been with telstra since the nbn became available and haven't had any problems at all. We are on the small bundle /25mbps and have never dropped below 23.5 with no dropout yet, everything works fine although the 100gb per month could do with being a bit more for the $70 we pay.

For the NBN technical support team, the best number to call is 1800834273.

I would also suggest isolating the modem and connecting directly via Ethernet to rule out other devices and WiFi problems.

I am in exactly the same boat as you. Nbn tech came 23/3 and installed everything but since then we haven't had any internet. Multiple phone calls later and still no internet. They said to me on Telstra's end it looks like it is activated but once they go further into it the order is still pending!! Extremely frustrating. And you never ever get a call back when they say they will. I will be lodging a complaint tomorrow.

Hello NBN  Gullibles,

This "issue" is not solved.

Apologies, but no where in this thread have I seen any evidence of a redesign of either the Indoor or Outdoor units to absolutely NOT splatter RF about where it's not wanted or needed. That's with WiFi on, or  off.

All I see are patches and cludges to lessen the impact of what is obviously a Bad Design or three, and I suspect that at least one of those mentioned will be shifting the 'noise' to a band less used by us peoples. Let's hope it doesn't turn every outdoor antenna into some diabolical black box that stuffs up NDB and VOR aviation beacons. Half a joke, right there:-)

If you let NBN Co. get away with this rubbish at the get-go, expect more of the same for ever more.

(That translates as 'You'll be sorry')

ACMA – are you listening?

Add in the tosh about being able to stream content etc, and there you have it - the nascent NBN it right off the bat treating it's customers with zero respect.

Respect? well consider this - you and I are being force-fed a solution that saturates us with RF. So, OK, we can possibly forgive that - after all, we're already being slow-roasted by the stuff with the mobile network, our own wireless networks etc etc. but clearly the chance to have No RF radiation associated with the NBN (as supplied to a minority, natch) has been sacrificed on the altar of political expediency. We see that in the future, measurements of exposure will likely be based on the actual op frequencies and further those measurements will not include the bonus rubbish emitted continuously all over the place, yes - right down to ye olde AM radio long wave. We've been listening to crackle and pop AM for a very long time indeed.

Those crackles and pops are from the environment, and tolerated. Brave New World says we get to accept new sources of interference from garbage pedalled to us in the name of progress?

Don't think so.

So, there ya go - NBN MINORITY Customers - something to think about.

Respect.

You, and we, don't deserve it. Apparently.

Engineers in attendance? You should know exactly what I'm on about. Yet another profession failure.

Shame, shame, shame.

NBN Phone Problem

Alright I've got a problem,

Was sent a free Fast 5335 for nbn, didn't like it, had problems with alot of things, port fowarding would no work at all and its firewall was just blocking nearly all ports and almost any unique application that needed internet access (it wasn't even allowing steam LMAO) it only allowed internet browsing, voip programs like skype and watching videos. It was really limited. I contacted support, they couldn't do anything and told me to get a third party nbn modem so i decided to get a Nighthawk AC1900 D7000 whichs works amazing right now, has very good speeds (praise nbn aswell, so much faster than ADSL2) and it fixed all the problems I had with the previous modem. However it doesnt have a phone port to connect my wireless handset to still use landline. I still have the fast 5335, is there somehow a way i can use that for just the phone and still use the netgear for internet and everything else.

Telstra Velocity down - free to air TV option

All,

My ONT box in the garage is currently down and Telstra has advised that due to mass disruption in our area, technician can only come in 10 business days time.

Gutted but nothing much I can do about this.

The reason for my post is to find alternative to access FTA TV; obviously I have no access to the internet hence streaming is out of question.

Can you suggest what should I purchase for us to be able to watch FTA TV preferably digital and HD? I do have a computer which is outputting via HDMI to our Samsung TV. Indoor TV antenna? TV tuner? Which brand would you suggest I go for?

TIA,
Henry

You could try connecting WAN port of F@st 5355 to LAN port of AC1900 D7000. if your lucky a the On Line and Phone light will come on and you will be able to make and receive phone calls. I have the F@st 5355 and have tried this configuration using two different VDSL modems a Fritzbox 7490 and a D-Link 2877AL and it worked with no problems. Every one else has had problems with incoming calls.

If it doesn't work could set a fixed  LAN IP address for F@st 5355 in  AC1900 D7000 and port forward the fallowing ports to the F@st 5355 5060-5061 TCP/UDP, 5004 UDP & 3478 TCP/UDP. Some people have had success port forwarding those ports with a Gateway Max II

NBN Upgrade - modem issues

Hi

We upgraded to NBN a long time ago.

I've recently had instability issues with our modem and then found out that the current supplied modem does not support NBN.

TG797n v3

We did not receive any new hardware.

Due to also having our phone with Telstra and I believe it's VOIP so it has to run through the modem, we can't use any BYO options because they don't work with the phone...

Is this something Telstra can help with?

Thanks

You would be best to speak to the tech support team. If you are under a contract, go over it with them explain that you have an issue with your modem and you would like a modem replacement with a more suitable modem and they should be able to help.

If you are out of contract and the modem is over 12 months old, then typically they would only be able to sell you a new one.

Just get an indoor TV antenna for your TV. Go to somewhere like Cheap As Chips, Bunnings, or Big W for an inexpensive one that works. Go to Harvey Norman/Domayne, or one of the other electrical retialers for a more expensive version of the same.

I use an amplified one, which works perfectly.

What type of NBN do you have?

  • Fibre to the premises (FTTP). The best and future proof and ready for 1 Gbps broadband anytime in future.
  • Fibre to the node (FTTN). The most popular, not future proof, and potentially the most unreliable.
  • Fibre to the building (FTTB). Similar to FTTN.
  • Hybrid Fibre Coaxial (HFC)
  • nbn™ Fixed Wireless
  • Sky Muster™

Hi Dstarr1988,

I'm really sorry to read you've had such a poor experience trying to get the internet connected, that's not what we want to hear.

It's certainly confusing to how an ADSL connection request turned  into an NBN delay.

In regards to an interim net device, there is no policy in place internally or externally that says we need to offer you a back-up, although it is something that has been done in the past. I suspect this is the reason for the mixed messages, for which I am sorry. It is quite true that this type of request would need to be placed & approved by a case Manager.

If you have an SR case number you can share with me, I can contact your case Manager, send them a copy of this correspondence & ask that they contact you.

Hi User2303,

Sorry to hear that you have not been able to get assistance from your case manager.

If you are able to provide me your Complaint Reference Number beginning with "SR 1-" and I will reach out to the complaints team to have your case manager get in contact with you. If you are unsure of what reference numbers you have received, you can see view the different types of Reference Numbers your can obtain from Telstra

Modem connection to the little grey box

Hi was wondering if someone can help me understand. I'm not sure how to connect my gateway modem to the Ethernet cable. We are connected fftn, and it's a cat6 that runs through the roof to a port in the linen cupboard. But not sure which cable I use to connect to the modem. Thank you

Are you sure it is a FTTN connection and not a FTTP connection?

With a FTTN connection there is no NBN equipment installed in the premises the gateway DSL port plugs into the wall phone socket using a cable with a normal phone connector  on one end (RJ22)

If it FTTP and you have a NBN box then WAN port of gateway is connected to usually UNI-D1 port of NBN box using cable with RJ45 connectors on both ends..

If the cat 6 cable is used to connect equipment  such as a smart TV in another room use a LAN cable with Rj45 connectors on both ends to connect one of the yellow LAN ports on gateway to socket in linen cupboard.
