You wont be able to bridge the modem without losing VOIP you can try disabling DHCP and wifi on the Gateway and using your Netcomm to handle traffic but it can be hit and miss.

unblock what exactly? The only port Telstra "blocks" on a residential service is port 25 as it is reserved for Telstra mailserver. Have you tried port forwarding?
