Re: NBN Speed Drops in peak times

I am in Cairns.  I have a background as a Technician and IT but mostly IT (32 Years) but retired now.

I reported my concerns to NBN who told me to go to my RSP (Telstra).  I then complained to them and still have an open complaint.

I am told all should be resolved on 8th November as there is  big upgrade of CVC's scheduled for my POI (Cairns Exchange).

However I was told that an upgrade of CVC's on 25th October would also fix but no, that did not help at all so I am sceptical.

Cairns and it's surrounding suburbs have just had the FTTN cabinets come out of build stage and customers from all RSP's are starting to be connected.  I believe that there has been little provisioning done to cope with the demand when people start to migrate from mostly slower ADSL to the NBN. The is probably because we are engineered by accountants not communications engineers.

I have friends in the area who have a technical background similar to myself and range across various suburbs in Cairns and all are telling the same story with the exception of my friend in Edge Hill who is on FTTP SUPER FAST BOOST (ie 100Mb/s). He does not seem to have repeatable congestion issues.

I am frustrated that I cannot get to speak with a real  technical support person in Australia who can give me some real assurances that I can trust.  This off shore support is poorly trained and I have found them to say anything to placate me but offer very few actual solutions to solve the problem.

Maybe Telstra should take a leaf out of this mob's book.  This is from their web site. I was told about it from a friend who has just gone with them in Gordonvale (just outside Cairns).
