Re: Slow NBN speeds

Hi ,

A speed boost on FTTN/B may make a difference depending upon the quality of the copper line running from the VDSL unit to the end user.

Instead of receiving 25mbps to the unit, and then it being pushed over the copper service - it will be 50 or 100 which will be pushed over the copper service. By default this means that the speed should increase even with the drop off.

Working with some customers in FTTN areas who are at the edge of the servicing area for their pillars, a speed boost takes them from 4mbps to (on average) 15mbps during peak hours. Whilst this still isn't near the maximum that some can receive, it's important to set clear expectations around how the technology works, and that if this is the speed they will receive, that it doesn't get better with other providers either.. It's the infrastructure and how it is servicing their dwelling.
