1 hour and 2 minutes just trying to get in touch with someone to connect my internet at new address I'm moving to.....

How bad will it be trying to get help if I can't even connect to speak to a person as a new customer???
I have been told I HAVE to connect with NBN as Telstra doesn't offer anything else at the new address what on earth, now we don't even get a choice as paying customers?!!!!
