Hi Guys,
Hope you could help me out.
I recently migrated from Telstra Smart Velocity (TSV) to Telstra NBN in the Fitzgibbon Chase estate with FTTP connection. I have both TSV NTD and NBN Co NTD in the garage.
I have a patch panel with 3 ports (home phone, ethernet, TV as per screenshot below) that connects both Internet and Phone via internal wiring to other areas within the house. One of the ports connects to my home phone, which is situated in the dining room.
I rang Telstra Accounts (1800TFIBRE) and have been advised that if I need to plug the home phone directly into the phone connection UNI-V 1 into the NBN co NTD, I will need two technicians to be called out. One technician from NBN Co to configure the NTD box to enable Voice and one technician from Telstra with a call out fee of $240 to install a battery backup device on the wall.
Can someone please advise if this is the case as I never had a battery backup device for the home phone while I was on the Telstra Smart Velocity and I don't really see the point why (***unless power outage, but then I got my mobile phones) I would need one in my garage.
Hope someone can help me.
Thanks,
Rox
