That is the default, so if you plug the Ethernet from the NTD to the WAN port on the gateway you can see how it goes, it is just worth noting that as the gateway is optimised to work with the Telstra network and with the settings for such it should work with the WAN connection but you may encounter times where the may cause some performance issues with another provider - that being said, it could also work perfectly... it really depends.
