Thanks you for your suggestion but it's not really the answer.
It really does not matter if the modem is powered or not. If the FTTN cabinet is not powered then anything past the cabinet is dead.
The FTTN or FIBER To The Node (that is the green cabinet) is powered from the Ergon pole from the switch in the picture.
In cyclone times when power is out then no matter how much I power I have at my house powering my modem then it's not going to communicate with a dead cabinet.
I am assuming the batteries in cabinet are only for short term backup and not the days we can be without power in these times.
For me I can get by with maybe mobile phones assuming towers intact but my 88 year old Mum will not.
That is my point. This FTTN is a half baked solution bujt I guess that we REGIONAL people have to accept what we are given. Metro customers have far more choices and their power is far more reliable.
