21 Mar 16 two NBN installers allegedly connected us to NBN. Telephone calls from outside could not be received. Some of our call would drop out., Made complaint; several emails all diverted to Manilla; told call was being diverted to another person; waited for 46 Minutes listen to music. Terminated call. One Manilla "specialist" wanted details of our "road accident and details of financial settlement.: Informed him we had not been in a road incident and not awaiting any compensation payout. Questioned as to where he obtained such information,he became flustered, said he was reading a report. Asked to email copy of report, he terminated the call.
Finall on the 15th April, 16 an intelligent person, 'Gerald advised a tech would call the next day'. Tech arrived and checked street cables. No Problem. Invited into home and shown phones and computer plus wiring. On entering room with computer stated immediately (in under 3-5 seconds) "That's your problem. That cable should not be connected and that other cable has been plugged into the wrong section at the back of the Modem." I removed the cable and re conneced the other cable to the correct section of the Modem. ALL FIXED.
A faulty initial connection; several missed phone calls; drop out phone calls; several emails (destination Manilla) hours wasted in phone calls could have been avoided if Telstra maintained its undertaking to service our 'PRIORITY" PHONE WITHIN 24 HOURS.
Telstra's claim of 'SERVICE 24/7" is a hollow advertising gimmic which apparently is copied by the Bribie Telstra Office. I phoned to speak with the Manager (not available) and left a message to phone me back as my experience may save numerous and further complaints on Bribie and Sandstone Point. NO REPLY PHONE CALL HAS BEEN RECEIVED.
The obvious mantra, practice or policy would appear to be "Sell the product, take the money, don't worry about service.
Telstra's new CEO should perhaps commit more energy to Australia before wandering off overseas to make anothr dollar and enhance his salary. Check out Telstra on Wikipedia to see how the animal has grown fat at the expense of service to Australians.
This will be my last comment. I will withdraw from Crowd Support as soon as possible. Tom
