Can I please have a clarification on whether I can have a new ADSL connection in an area deemed NBN ready BUT IS NOT? I was supposed to have NBN connected to a house I bought - ie no existing internet plan for me at the house. The NBN is said to be available to the street but I live on the other side of a stream which makes it difficult to get the NBN to me and there are significant delays.
I have been trying to get alternative options for internet to my house and I was told by a Telstra representative that I cannot have a new ADSL connection because it is "against the law". This leaves the only option I have as mobile broadband which is woefully expensive AND has woefully low data caps - which means I can't use the internet as I would like to in my home.
I have had a quick look on the internet for the actual law that precludes my getting a new ADSL connection to my house but I cannot find it. Does someone know what this law is and who I can request an exception from to allow me to get an effective internet plan to my house while I wait for NBN Co to get their infrastructure sorted?
