My Telstra T-Hub 2 Handset is exibiting a very strange set of symptoms.
I recently had my T-Gateway replaced because it had been faulty since installation.
Not long before this I had been receiving some odd calls with no sound which would eventually terminate after a computer voice said goodbye. Now there is no sound at all when someone calls, other than the ringing of the phone, I have tried this many times with my mobile calling the home phone. If I speak into the t-hub 2 handset, there is no sound in the mobile phone and if I speak into the mobile phone, there is no sound on the t-hub 2 handset either.
I have checked all the volumes are at maximum. If I go off hook with the t-hub handset, there is dial tone but upon entering a number and pressing dial, there is absolutely no sound at all.
Calling the mobile results in it ringing as expected but again, no audio either direction on the handset.
I have deregistered and re-registered the handset and reset all the equipment a number of times.
The new t-gateway performs properly for internet access most of the time, I presume that when it is slow, it is probably just peak traffic.
I plugged an old line type telephone into the phone port on the back of the gateway and this works properly.
I assume that the handset is defective and that what I thought were nuisance phone calls were in fact legitimate calls that could not be answered or heard.
What do I do ?
