The modem itself doesn't actually deliver NBN to your house. Do you actually have an NBN service or are you still on ADSL? If you're still on ADSL you will need to log into your modem and configure it with your BigPond username and password.
If, however, you do have an active NBN service, then I would try factory resetting the modem.
