Real? - call from Telstra rep organising appts to connect landline to NBN (technical only) no plan

Hi - this afternoon between 4pm - 5pm (22/6/16) I received a phone call from a man who said he was attached to Telstra.  He explained that he was ringing in relation to a technical installation for Telstra customers around organising appointments to connect Telstra landlines to NBN enable them (he explained clearly though that this had nothing to do with signing up to Telstra as a chosen ISP or signing up for a plan but that Telstra was doing this for its landline customers).  He organised an appointment for August 1 (Monday) between 8 - 12 in the morning.  He read out a great deal of background contract matters yet asked for no details in terms of finances.  He rang on a private number and did not ask for an address but read our address to me to confirm it.  I just wanted to know if this is a legitimate action going on with Telstra customers or if this is something odd - Thanks.
