I am currently with Telstra for ADSL2+ and phone on a Medium bundle. I contacted Telstra through 24x7 Live chat last Tuesday to switch over to NBN (FTTN). I confirmed that I would be able to get the 100/40 speed Medium plan for $95 per month (after promotions and discounts) and signed up immediately. Since then, I have not had any news, so I tried to contact Telstra again for an update. After going through 2 different Live chat sessions, I was passed on to a NBN phone person. I was told that FTTN in my area cannot be connected at speeds faster than 25/5 due to council requirements. I am incredulous that such a situation could be true, but the person insisted.
I am quite upset as I am pretty sure that this is simply not true as many others in my area has already connected at speeds greater than 25/5, unless this is a Telstra-centric issue. I am quite aware of the limitations of FTTN and estimate that I should get fairly high speeds at a distance of 300-350m or so away from the node.
Since I seem not to be able to get an update on my order via live chat nor phone, I am trying this venue. My Order Reference Number is NA88281752 and I have a copy of the live chat transcript with details on the agreement if needed. I would appreciate it if I can get an update from a Telstra representative who is knowledgable about this issue.
Thank you.
