Hi
So I recently signed up with Telstra NBN and my account was connected back on April 21st
I connected up the Telstra Gateway Max Modem (TG799vac) supplied by Telstra, and all appeared to be working ok.
I have a wired netword in the home, and all my wired devices connected OK.
I then connected all my wireless devices including Phones, Tablets and Laptops.
4 People. 4 Phones, 3 Tablets, 2 Laptops. I connected all I could to the 5GHz band as I was of the belief that this was faster than the 2.4GHz, and had less interferrence from household items.
Unfortunately every device connected to the Modem would randomly drop off it's wireless connection, and I would have to disconnect / reconnect / reboot the device to get back onto the wireless network. It could be that one device would drop off, and another remain connected. Sometimes all devices would drop off... it was random times of the day, but more often in the afternoon / evening when everyone was home and connected.
So, after multiple reboots of the modem, changing channels, etc, I eventually moved everything back to the 2.4GHz band and have had sucess with no dropouts as yet (although this is not as fast as I would like). I'm not game to try anything back on the 5GHz band after a weeek.
I thought all was well until the modem itself lost all connection to the internet... Friday Nite... Status and Internet lights went RED and all devices dropped out. I rebooted and 10 minutes later I was back online again. 2 Days later... same thing. 10PM last Sunday night right in the middle of a Netflix movie. However this time the modem would not reconnect until the following morning (after trying 3 x reboots, including 1 full power off / unplug cycle).
I have spent 45 minutes on hold to Telstra Support tonight and gave up after no answer (Typical though)
I'm in Warner QLD, and at the moment am regretting my decision to connect to the NBN with Telstra.
Can anyone offer any assistance / suggestions.
Thanks
Gav
